Free judo club for schoolchildren
Posted: 16th May 2019A free after-school sports club is giving youngsters an alternative to football.
Key Stage 2 pupils at Cooks Spinney Primary Academy are enjoying taking part in judo sessions each week.
All the kit the children need for the club are given to them free of charge to ensure it is accessible to all families.
Headteacher Neil Stirrat said: “The judo club adds a bit of variety to what our pupils can take part in and gives an alternative to those who may not want to play football. It is also giving them an opportunity to try something they may never have tried before. It teaches them discipline and strategy and is great for their fitness.
“We are pleased to be able to offer this free of charge as sports clubs outside of school can be too expensive for our families.”
