Home hazards highlighted to children
Posted: 24th January 2020Hazards around the home have been highlighted to children as they develop their independence.
A representative from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service regularly works with pupils at Cooks Spinney Primary Academy to raise awareness of dangers around them.
The latest visit saw Year 3 learn more about the potential hazards they could face at home.
Headteacher Neil Stirrat said: “The fire brigade regularly come and help us to get messages across to pupils or to help us to cover topics such as the Great Fire of London where we use real fire as part of our lessons.
“Year 3 learnt about fire alarms, being aware of their surroundings and the potential dangers of phone chargers. At this age, some of the children are starting to want to do their own hair or make their own toast at home for breakfast, so it is important they are aware and able to keep themselves safe as their independence grows.”
