First aid lessons for pupils
Posted: 9th March 2020Children now know how to respond in an emergency, thanks to first aid training.
Year 6 pupils from Cooks Spinney Primary Academy were visited by the Red Cross for a first aid workshop.
They learnt about the bystander effect and why people may not feel they can or should stop to help someone in need.
They also learned basic skills, such as how to put someone into the recovery position, how to deal with a burn, drinking something dangerous, bleeding heavily or what to do if someone is having a seizure.
Pupil Ayanna said: “I found the whole workshop helpful because if someone was in trouble, I would know how to help them.”
Classmate Lucie said: “I enjoyed learning about what to do if someone was having a seizure.”
