Joint primary visit to Kew Gardens
Posted: 23rd October 2019Keen young artists took the opportunity to explore their love of art during a trip to Kew Gardens.
Pupils from Roydon Primary Academy, in Roydon, and Cooks Spinney Primary Academy, in Harlow, were able to examine botanical illustrations to inspire their own observational drawing.
As well as exploring plants in the Victorian greenhouses, the budding artists also got to see artist Dale Chihuly's glass sculptures within the grounds.
Michael Clark, Roydon headteacher, said: “The children had a brilliant time and enjoyed the gardens. It was lovely to see some of the amazing artwork they produced.
“It is always great to team up with another BMAT school to offer the children these brilliant opportunities.”
Neil Stirrat, Cooks Spinney headteacher, said: “We love teaming up with Roydon. It’s a great opportunity for our pupils to meet and make friends with children from a different school.
“This amazing trip will hopefully be one of many more to come.”
